Why You Must Be Baptized [Correctly]
(A Person Specially Set Apart Must Be Put To Death)

  Compiled by Brother L. Harrell

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

You must be baptized to be saved (I Peter 3:21 & John 3:5) and you need the name of Jesus Christ to be saved (Acts 4:10).  It is essential to be baptized with the name of Jesus to be saved. (Baptism can not be used to save you without using the only name that can save.)  How can you be saved (with baptism) under a different name or set of names when there is "none other name" given?  Read Acts 4:12.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

In Acts 4:10, the word tells us by what name: that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was practiced by the Apostles. See Acts 2:38, Acts 19:5, Acts 8:12, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Colossians 2:12, Romans 6:3-4 & Galatians 3:27. Nowhere in the bible did the Apostles baptize by any other name or formula.  Both secular and religious historic record recognize that the early church baptized in Jesus' name.

Matthew 28:19 commands baptism in a name. Notice the word 'name' is singular, representing 'one person or thing'. That one name is Jesus Christ. (Remember Acts 4:12). If you question if Jesus is God, read Revelations 1:17-18, Acts 20:28, John 8:58 & John 10:30. (More verses listed below)

Peter Says:

Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Jesus Says:

Luke 24:47 "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

Baptism is for "remission of sins" as stated in Acts 2:38.  In Luke 24:47, Jesus quotes:  "remission of sins should be preached in his name"

I Peter 3:21 states "baptism doth also now save us"  Acts 4:12 lets us know "there is no other name by which we must be saved"  (If baptism saves us, we must baptize with the name that has saving power).

We must not victim to perversions/heresies that differ from the biblical practices of Jesus and the First Apostles.  A shrewd person would not be able to rest until they knew they have met the conditions of salvation according to the word of God (and not according to the opinions of man).

Note:
To baptize means to immerse (to dip into water or other fluid so as to cover completely). The greek word baptismos: immersion.

Additional verses on the oneness of God: Isaiah 44:6-8, Ephesians 4:4-6, John 1:1, John 1:14, John 5:17, John 5:43, John 14:7, John 14:18-20, John 17:11-12, Colossians 1:13-29, Colossians 2:9-10, I John 3:8, I Corinthians 15:24 and Galations 4:4-6.

We must die, be buried, and regenerated by the Spirit:

Leviticus 27:29 (NLT)  A person specially set apart by the LORD for destruction cannot be redeemed. Such a person must be put to death.

Hebrews 9:15   And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Romans 6:3  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Titus 3:5  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Some falsely claim salvation is by confession alone, claiming baptism is a "work", therefore not a gift.  Knowing we are not saved by works, they claim baptism is purely ceremonial & non-essential.  Consider this example metaphorically:  (I am not advocating immunizations)

A doctor advertises free immunity from a certain virus for all that respond by calling him.  Interested parties call him and then he instructs them to arrive at his clinic to receive a free immunization shot, with no strings attached.  Responders refuse to comply, and accuse him of false advertising, saying it takes work to drive to the clinic and it is a work / action to receive the immunization shot (having to roll up one's sleeve and all...).  They claim the doctor advertised something as free, but now wants them to work for it.

This is the manner that those whom advocate baptism is a work have responded to the Lord’s instructions for immersion in His name for remission of sins.  Something is offered free to all regardless of race, gender, ethnic group, economic status, etc., but the adversary has deceived many to withhold actions of receipt, leaving themselves positioned for destruction.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

In like manner, when we pray, we don’t work for what is given.  His gifts are free through our Lord Jesus.  We are not to be anxious for anything.  We are to let our requests be made known with prayer, sincere petitions and thanks to our Lord (See Philippians 4:6).  This is not works (likened to the Lord being in debt to the worker), but rather works [actions] of receiving by faith (likened to the Lord freely giving to those whom have displayed that they are fully assured that He is faithful [whether or not he performs, there is and was no debt credited or due]).

Romans 4:4 (NASB)  Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.

Romans 4:5 (NASB)  But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,

Romans 4:21 (NASB)  and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.
