Esau, You Are Not Going To Die…You Are A Nation!
(Stop The Bloodletting)

Compiled by Brother L. Harrell

"Seek the LORD, All you humble of the earth Who have carried out His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility.  Perhaps you will be hidden In the day of the LORD'S anger." (Zephaniah 2:3 [NASB])

The Lord told Rebekah that her sons will become two nations.  Her sons were Esau (a.k.a. Edom) and Jacob (a.k.a. Israel).

Genesis 25:23 (NLT) And the LORD told her, "The sons in your womb will become two rival nations. One nation will be stronger than the other; the descendants of your older son will serve the descendants of your younger son."

Esau being raised in a house that feared the Lord, and therefore covered by the Lord’s protection, had no legitimate reason he should have feared death (Esau’s grandfather Abraham believed God would raise Isaac up from the dead [See Hebrews 11:17-19]).  Esau had not yet become a nation (as spoken by the Lord to his mother), therefore if Esau was knowledgeable of the Lord’s Word, that promise should have served to him as confirmation that he would not soon meet death.

Genesis 25:30-33 (NLT)  Esau said to Jacob, "I'm starved! Give me some of that red stew you've made." (This was how Esau got his other name, Edom--"Red.")  Jacob replied, "All right, but trade me your birthright for it."  "Look, I'm dying of starvation!" said Esau. "What good is my birthright to me now?"  So Jacob insisted, "Well then, swear to me right now that it is mine." So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his younger brother.

Before Esau traded away his birthright, he was first in line to receive the blessing.  He should have known, you can't receive this blessing as a dead man.  With a little faith in the Lord, Esau could have stood the test of temptation.

Short of calling on the Lord, likely Esau did all he knew to do (Esau exhausted his resources to save himself).  Many of God's elect are in Esau's shoes, choosing to do all one knows to do, with the exception of truly relying on the Lord.  Relying on our own power is sinful and nullifies our much of our God given protection.

Romans 14:23b (ESV) For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

Matthew 4:4b Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Instead of relying on God to help a nation defend itself in a moral manner, "civilized" nations have lowered their ethical standards and are doing things such as using nuclear waste (known as depleted uranium / U-236) to strengthen conventional weapons.  The result of being faithless, “depleted uranium” is being discharged all over the countryside in various war ravaged places and has resulted in unknown numbers (unknown to man) of birth defects to innocent babies and other numerous sicknesses (to people of all age groups).  Also, inhumane, reprehensible actions such as torture are what nations that do not acknowledge that God can save them from their enemies do.

Isaiah 66:1(a)  Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:

Psalm 24:1  The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Immorally desperate actions such as spreading radioactive waste (e.g.: "depleted uranium") in habitable and inhabited land is likened by the actions of the worlds most notorious adversaries.  Some notorious adversaries attempt to convert the world to their version of morality, while at the same time financing their campaign by the sales and distributions of highly addictive drugs.  Both are actions of irresponsible nonbelievers.  (Acting against a group that kills innocent people [for the sake of saving the innocent people] by using radioactive waste and toxic herbicides that unquestionably kill innocent people is not an act of a righteous nation).

Many say, "We don't need prophets in our church".  Then the same persons say they must act amorally or immorally to save their skin (which is a consequence of not having all the divine help one desires).  A righteous, God fearing nation should not have to stoop to polluting the Lord's earth.  The earth is His footstool.  Faithlessness leads to crimes such as the ones that were committed with the toxic herbicide, Agent Orange.  We must not do all that we know how to do with the exception of calling on the Lord.  We must call on Him!  If we do, we will not be confounded!

Galatians 3:14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Ephesians 2:12-13  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Leviticus 26:8  And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

Romans 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Romans 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Psalm 33:10-12   The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.  The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.  Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Matthew 5:5-6  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Should a God fearing nation fear the nukes of it's adversaries?  Not!  Nuclear bombs and their fallout have no power over a God fearing nation.  The Lord will never forsake His people.

Isaiah 40:17 (NLT)  The nations of the world are as nothing to him. In his eyes they are less than nothing--mere emptiness and froth.

Deuteronomy 5:29 (NLT) Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! If they did, they and their descendants would prosper forever.
