The
Wrath of the Sons of Jacob
Compiled
by Brother L. Harrell
Exodus
12:49 (NRSV)
"there shall be one law for the native and for the alien who resides
among you."
Acts 11:9b (NRSV) “What God has made
clean, you must not call profane.”
Genesis 34:15-16 But in this will we
consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be
circumcised; Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take
your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become
one people.
Genesis 34:18-19 And their words pleased
Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son. And the young man deferred not to do
the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: and he was more
honourable than all the house of his father.
Genesis 34:25 And it came to pass on the
third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon
and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the
city boldly, and slew all the males.
"Righteous" vigilantes Levi &
Simeon, "the protectors", have judged people that have made the
decision to serve the one true God. When the people that "justice was
executed on" were in position to get to know the Lord, the protectors
took actions into their own hands.
Genesis 34:30-31 And Jacob said to Simeon
and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants
of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few
in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay
me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. And they said, Should he
deal with our sister as with an harlot?
Their dad later prophetically said in
Genesis 49:7 "Cursed
be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I
will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel."
Many that fell victim to Simeon and
Levi’s wrath had committed no crime. But were found in the
company of those Simeon and Levi took issue with. Moreover, many
of the victims had determined to live righteously. I find it
notable that Levi & Simeon along with many of their brothers also
wanted to unjustifiably slay their own innocent Spirit led brother,
Joseph. I also find it notable that Jacob did not withhold his
rebuke of the shedding of innocent blood & covenant breaking: Jacob
disavowed the evil actions listed in Genesis 34:25-29.
Genesis 37:20-21 Come now therefore, and
let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil
beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his
dreams. And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands;
and said, Let us not kill him.
Numbers 30:2 (NRSV) When a man makes a vow
to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall
not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of
his mouth.
Too many today that are spiritually
of Jacob's heritage encourage, condone, aid and abet, or remain silent
to evil actions of this sort [for carnal racial prejudicial
reasons]. How can there be healing in the land when the church
walks in perverted justice? There are too many actions of those
baptized in the Lord's name and those that also profess to be obedient
to His Spirit causing the Body to be hated by the world due to the
elect’s unjust actions or unjust inactions.
In our generation many that have been
grafted into the spiritual Commonwealth of Israel (and are of Jacob’s
heritage) are walking contemptuously as vigilantes against innocent
children of the Most High God. Their only crime (the innocent),
being found in company (or natural genealogy) with those the “righteous
protectors”, Simeon and Levi, which are in the Church, take issue with.
Likely along side Simeon and Levi are most of their brothers that have
been ill-advised to partake in their indiscriminate folly.
Many have taken it upon themselves
not to accept the divine order Jesus Christ set up for the New
Testament Church (a.k.a., 5-fold ministry [see Ephesians 4:11 & 1
Corinthians 12:28]). Many consider it okay to listen to and then
disreard the Spirit and what He has established at their own discretion.
1 Corinthians 14:29-31 Let the prophets
speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed
to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may
all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
Isaiah 45:10-12 (NRSV) Woe to anyone who
says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’ or to a woman, ‘With what
are you in labour?’ Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and its
Maker: Will you question me about my children, or command me concerning
the work of my hands? I made the earth, and created humankind
upon it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I
commanded all their host.
Many would do well to ensure Psalms
105:15 is not a testimony against them, polluting themselves and the
land. Psalms 105:15 Saying, "Touch not mine
anointed, and do my prophets no harm".
Many would do well not to follow the
example of the over zealous vigilante King Saul, which violated
covenant and brought judgment against the land.
2 Samuel 21:1-2 Then there was a famine in
the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of
the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody
house, because he slew the Gibeonites. And the king called the
Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the
children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the
children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in
his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
1 John 2:10-11 (NRSV) Whoever loves
a brother or sister lives in the light, and in such a person there is
no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates another believer is in the
darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go,
because the darkness has brought on blindness.
As an example of the danger of
hindering others protected by the Lord's covenants, many would benefit
by taking into consideration the prohibition Israel was given as listed
in Deuteronomy 2:19 considering some of Lots descendants: "And
when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them
not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the
children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the
children of Lot for a possession".
If we obey the Lord, all will be well
(we don't need to faithlessly act out in fear).
Romans 8:14-15 For as many as are led by
the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received
the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Carnal-minded members of the church
will be perplexed later when they are divided & scattered as
Simeon, Levi and Belshazzar (if they don't repent, and if they don't
start regarding the Lord's statutes and judgments, many which transcend
dispensations).
Daniel 5:23a "But hast lifted up thyself
against the Lord of heaven"
Daniel 5:23c "and the God in whose hand
thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:"
Daniel 5:27 "TEKEL; Thou art weighed in
the balances, and art found wanting."
Daniel 5:28a "PERES; Thy kingdom is
divided"
We must be prayerful before treading
on the Lord’s possessions, such as His children and the time He has
allotted for their benefit.
Matthew 18:5-6 "And whoso shall receive
one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall
offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for
him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were
drowned in the depth of the sea."
Luke 18:7-8a "And shall not God avenge his
own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with
them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily."
The world acts impulsively on a whim,
spontaneously oppressing their neighbors. If the church was to do
the same, when the world comes to itself and says I need help, where
can the world turn for help when the people of God have the same
problem as the world? Ignorant comments and verbal insults likely
will humiliate & dishearten, hindering our fellow man. (Would
the Church dare oppress someone the Lord has exonerated?)
Matthew 12:36-37 "But I say unto you, That
every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof
in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified,
and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
1 John 3:14 (NRSV) We know
that we have passed from death to life because we love one another.
Whoever does not love abides in death.
1
John 3:16 (NRSV) We know love
by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our
lives for one another.
1 John 3:17 (NRSV) How does God’s love
abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister
in need and yet refuses help?
